The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has begun construction of the FM 1709 raised medians project. Keller's portion of the project will begin at U.S. Hwy. 377 (Main Street) in Keller and continue eastward through the City of Keller and end at the eastern city limit. The project will then continue through the City of Southlake and end at Southlake's eastern city limit. The total length of the project is approximately 6.2 miles and will consist of the installation of raised concrete curb and gutter medians within the existing center turn lanes.
The project is scheduled to take approximately one year to complete and will be managed by the TxDOT construction staff.
