UPDATED: Zip Code Realignment ProposalZIP Code Realignmen Approved for 76180

USPS officials have announced the survey results for the proposed Zip Code Realignment for 76180 and have confirmed that the majority of the residents residing in the 76180 Zip Code voted to approve the zip code change to Keller 76248. This zip code change will go into effect on July 1, 2009 where all mails and deliveries will be conducted by the Keller Post Office.

Effective July 1, 2009, residents will begin using Keller TX 76248 as the last line of information for your address. Also on this date, your mail will be delivered by the Keller Post Office. Parcels and accountable mail requiring a signature (i.e., certified and registered) will be picked up at the Keller Post Office located at:

520 E. Vine St
Keller TX 76248-9998
817-431-6231
Hours of operation are:
(Monday - Friday) 9am – 6:30pm and (Saturday) 9:00am – 12:00pm

When these changes occur, the Postal Service will continue to honor the delivery of the mail with either the old or new city name and ZIP Code information for a period of one (1)year. This will allow time for residents to notify correspondents of the new last line of information as well as exhaust stationary on hand. Do not complete a Change of Address card; doing so will delay delivery of your mail. Please ensure all mail sent to you displays Keller TX 76248 as the last line of information and use this in your return address as well. Residents residing in the 76180 ZIP Code have received notification from USPS since the results are announced.   See the notification letter from USPS confirming the survey results.

Zip Code Change Proposal Recap

The City of Keller currently contains three different ZIP Codes (Keller 76248, Roanoke 76262 [PDF], and North Richland Hills 76180 [PDF]). While the ZIP code for your residence may show something else, you are a resident of the city that shows on the county tax roles. To verify your city of residence, visit the Tarrant Appraisal District.

The City has received comments from a number of Keller residents asking that a request be submitted to the United States Postal Service (USPS) to consider realigning Keller’s ZIP code boundaries so that all residents of Keller will have a mailing address in Keller, 76248.

On July 15, 2008, the Keller City Council approved a resolution supporting the realignment of the current ZIP code boundaries (See Resolution No. 2720 (PDF) and minutes (PDF) from the July 15, 2008 City Council Meeting).

The USPS District Manager reviewed the request to determine whether it the zip code change is feasible. The City received a letter from the Fort Worth USPS District Manager on October 16, 2008 stating that our request has been approved for a resident survey pertaining to the proposed realignment for the Keller residents residing in the 76180 ZIP Code.

On December 17th, 2008, the City sent a sample survey (PDF) to the residents residing in the 76180 ZIP Code along with notices for future public meetings. The certified survey was mailed out by the USPS in mid-January 2009.  Only the surveys that are returned are counted. A majority of the survey responses must approve the change for it to go into effect. If a majority of the survey responses are against the change, the change will not go into effect, and another request cannot be made for 10 years.
