Keller celebrates National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, Nov. 1-7
Posted Date: 10/30/2009

In recognition of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, Nov. 1-7, Keller Animal Services and The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), is asking Keller citizens to take a closer look at the valuable role their animal shelter plays in enhancing the quality of life in the community. Animal shelters offer many services assisting animals and people alike. Controlling dogs running at large, rescuing injured animals, returning lost pets to their owners, and adopting animals into new, loving homes are just a few of the ways citizens benefit . The personal guidance of the shelter staff assists the public with animal-related issues and concerns, from dealing with wildlife to helping with pet-behavior questions.

The success of animal shelters would not be possible without the support of the community. How can you help Keller Animal Services and other local animal shelters? Here are just a few of the many ways:

  • Offer a donation of needed supplies such as pet food, collars, leashes, toys and the like
  • Spread the word about the importance of responsible pet ownership
  • Report animal cruelty and neglect
  • Choose your next pet from among the many animals being cared for at the Keller shelter

Keller Animal Services invites the public to join them in celebrating National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. Take this opportunity to stop by and visit the adoptable pets and find out what you can do to help our animals in need. Animal Services is located at the Keller Police and Court Facility, 330 Rufe Snow Drive. Contact the department at 817-743-4516, 817-743-4517, or animalservices@cityofkeller.com.
