2009 Keller's Got Talent "People's Choice Award" Winner Announced
Marnie Freeman, Keller’s "People’s Choice" Award Winner
Posted Date: 11/20/2009

The October Public Arts show, entitled “Keller’s Got Talent,” brought together the works of artists from Keller and the surrounding area. As part of the program, an award was designated as the “People’s Choice Award” for best in show. Voting was done by the public at large throughout the month of October. The entries were all worthy of the distinction, but only one winner could be chosen.

After counting all the ballots, the “People’s Choice Award” winner for 2009 is Marnie Freeman for her painting, entitled “Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.” This exquisitely detailed work presents a beautiful, yet thought provoking, view of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives.

Ms. Freeman is an award-winning artist and graphic designer. Her art has been viewed by more than a quarter million church, political, and business leaders since 2005. One of her paintings, “And Justice for All,” was presented to the U.S. Supreme Court in a ceremony including Justice Antonin Scalia and Justice Stephen Breyer. The painting, now part of the U.S. Supreme Court permanent collection, initially hung in Justice Scalia’s chambers. Former Attorney General John Ashcroft; Amway and Quixtar founder Rich DeVoss; former Dallas Cowboy Larry Allen; and investor and philanthropist Foster Friess are among the holders of Marnie’s works.

Marnie, her husband Kevin, and their two daughters are residents of Keller. You may visit her Web site at www.marniefreeman.com to view her other works and read her story. Her award-winning painting will be displayed in Keller Town Hall during the next month for all to enjoy.
