Animal Services provides assistance including responding to stray animal complaints, investigating dangerous animals, investigating animal bites, impoundments, adoptions, barking dog complaints, trapping nuisance wildlife, loose livestock, carcass removal, ordinance enforcement, and many others.
The City of Keller requires that all dogs and cats must be registered with Animal Services and on a leash when outdoors. These requirements are for the safety and well-being of your pets.
Animal Services is dedicated to helping protect the health, safety and welfare of both people and animals in our community.
Animal Services Ordinances
Refer to Chapter 3, Animals, Fowl, Insects and Reptiles, Code of Ordinances
Leash Law
The City of Keller has a leash law stating that animals shall not be at large within the city limits. The term "at large" is defined as an animal that is not confined to the premises of its owner by a containment device or secured by a leash.
Livestock Identification Program
Animal Services has implemented a livestock identification program to help all owners of livestock who reside within the city limits of Keller. By providing some basic information, livestock owners may be prevented from having to pay impound fees or having livestock mistakenly pastured elsewhere should animals be found at large. Contact Animal Services for more information about this program by sending e-mail to animalservices@cityofkeller.com or calling (817)743-4516 or 4517.
