Street maintenance starts June 18 on Rufe Snow
Rufe Snow drivers will encounter daily lane closures between Keller Parkway and just north of the drainage channel beginning Monday, June 18 as city crews kick off asphalt rehab efforts in partnership with Tarrant County Precinct 3.
"Rapp Road street maintenance is significantly ahead of schedule with primary work expected to be complete this week, so we're getting started on Rufe Snow sooner than anticipated," Streets Superintendent Kelly Howell said.
Construction will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and, weather permitting, is expected to wrap up by Friday, July 20. During the daily closures, area drivers should anticipate detour routes and slowed speeds to ensure safety for workers on site. The road will reopen each night and over weekends to minimize driver impacts.
"Milling and surface asphalt removal will take no more than two days and will require both sides of the roadway to be closed," Howell said. "After that, northbound traffic will be detoured to Pate Orr and Keller-Smithfield while that portion of the road is reconstructed. We'll then switch to the southbound side."
For the safety of drivers and street crews, westbound traffic on FM 1709/Keller Parkway may also be impacted for short periods of time throughout construction by a closure in the right lane. Access will be maintained on Keller Parkway for the businesses on the north side of the Rufe Snow intersection. For more information, contact Public Works at 817-743-4080.
