Over 600 trees to be given away at Holly Days

Post Date:12/03/2018 9:30 AM

In celebration of Arbor Day Keller Parks & Rec has partnered with New Leaf Service Contracts to give away 650 trees to the community, including red oaks, live oaks and loblolly pines at the annual Holly Days event scheduled for Friday, Dec. 7 from 6-10 p.m. Trees range from saplings to 7 feet in height and will be packaged in 5-gallon buckets or burlap. Trees will given away on a first-come, first-served basis and may be tagged early in the evening for pick up after the parade and tree lighting. Only one tree per household, please.

Holly Days: Christmas at Keller Town Center will feature our popular Very Merry Light Parade, the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, an explosive lighting of the Town Center Christmas Tree and the Santa Scurry 5K Run/Walk.

Throughout the evening, slide down the two-lane snow tubing hill (must be 42 inches tall), enjoy a variety of children’s crafts and games in the Jingle Bell Zone, browse great gift vendors, fill up on savory and holiday concessions, and sing and dance along with live entertainment.

Our popular tree lighting featuring close-proximity fireworks will immediately follow our Very Merry Light Parade this year, which kicks off at 7 p.m. (great viewing in front of Keller Town Hall). All other activities will be available throughout the evening, from 6-10 p.m. (See the Evening's Schedule)

As early as 7 a.m. on Friday, expect road closures within Keller Town Center, including Town Center Lane just south of Tom Thumb and the Keller Town Hall parking circle. Bear Creek Parkway from Country Brook Drive to Rufe Snow Drive will close beginning at 4 p.m. and drivers should anticipate the closing of Rufe Snow Drive from about The Keller Pointe to Keller Town Center between 7 and 7:30 p.m. to accommodate floats from the parade.

Parking for Holly Days is available throughout Keller Town Center and at nearby city facilities and parks. Overflow parking is also available at Life.Church directly across Keller Parkway from Keller Town Center (1075 Keller Pkwy.) with shuttles scheduled to run from 5:30-10:30 p.m.

Holly Days: Christmas at Keller Town Center is free and open to the public, but attendees are asked to bring one non-perishable food item per person to be donated to The Community Storehouse for admission into the children’s activity area.
