Bandit Trail closes May 26 for water line maintenance

Post Date:05/19/2020 8:35 AM

Phase I of the city's Water System Capital Improvements Project continues to progress with one section planned to reopen — and another set to close for construction — next week.

Work on Keller-Smithfield Road South that has impacted the southbound lane between Bear Creek Parkway and Danbury Parks Drive since April 1 is expected to finish up on Wednesday, May 27. Assuming it's set to reopen on time, construction will begin Tuesday, May 26 on the next section of the project: Bandit Trail between Davis Boulevard and Overland Trail. Weather and site conditions permitting, that work will require a 24/7 closure of the road to all but adjacent homes through Sept. 15 as water lines along are replaced.

Water infrastructure maintenance also continues on Shady Lane North, which has required a closure to the northbound lane since April 20. That portion of the project is expected to wrap up in mid- to late June.

Part of routine maintenance for the city's water infrastructure, all of the projects in Phase I include potholing and excavation, installing temporary water service to residences, water main replacements, new water main and service connections, backfilling, and pavement/sod replacement for the disturbed work area. Adjacent residents will continue to have access to their property during construction, and garbage, mail, delivery and other service vehicles will be allowed through.
