WATER BOIL NOTICE
Keller lifted its boil water notice for all customers at noon Saturday, Feb. 20. Tap water is once again safe for consumption.
ELECTRIC UPDATE
Feb. 18 Morning Update: Oncor and Tri-County have both shared that they believe they are finished with controlled, rotating outages for now. They continue to repair weather-related outages throughout the region.
FRIDAY MORNING ROAD UPDATE
Neighborhood-level roads remain slick through a combination of packed snow and ice, but the city’s main thoroughfares are passable with only patchy ice spots. Please continue to use caution at intersections.
Patrol reports that Hwys. 377, 114 and 170 are nearly clear. Public Works has suspended their plowing efforts at this point, and will continue on sanding and brining today to help our streets thaw. The department’s 24-hour street operation schedule will return to normal at 11 p.m. tonight.
FACILITIES
Normal operations at Keller Town Hall and the Keller Public Library will have a delayed start of 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19.The Keller Pointe saw some damage during this week's storm, and so will not be able to open on Friday.
GARBAGE & RECYCLING SERVICES
After attempting to begin service on Friday, Feb. 19, CWD crews found the roads in many residential neighborhoods remain unsafe for the operation of their large trucks and so have decided to delay the start of service to Monday, Feb. 22. Residents may leave any materials placed at the curb if they choose.
CWD understands that customers will have additional material because of this week’s missed pickups, and so anticipate routes may run long next week. Thank you all for your patience and understanding throughout this event.
WARMING STATION
With water and power restored to Keller homes, the warming station will close at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19.
NATURAL GAS UPDATE
Atmos Energy has shared the following request and tips. For those who are in a position to conserve the natural gas use at your home, please do so until the winter weather situation improves: "Demand for natural gas continues to be at unprecedented levels. We appreciate your conservation efforts during this historic winter storm, which will continue with record low temperatures and additional snowfall overnight. Please continue to conserve energy. www.atmosenergy.com/wintertips"
PETS
It is illegal in Texas to leave an animal outside, unsheltered, in extreme weather conditions. This includes the actual or effective outdoor temperature being below 32F.
Please note: Texas law only requires a basic shelter - roof, two sides and a back. That means if a pet has access to something like a dog house in the yard, as well as access to food and water, Regional Animal Services can NOT issue a citation to the owners.
That said, we strongly encourage residents to keep their pets indoors in the days ahead or ensure their outdoor shelters are being kept as warm as possible for their animals.
