North Keller residents received a preview of upcoming road impacts this past weekend when a contractor became overexcited about the job and installed signage without permission and ahead of schedule. That signage has been covered for now, and we apologize for any confusion it may have caused.
Those driver impacts will begin next week in earnest, though, as construction begins Monday, Feb. 23, to replace deteriorating water lines.
Mt. Gilead Road between Robin Drive and Bancroft Road will close to thru traffic on Monday and operate as a southbound-only route for the duration of the water line installation, with signage directing drivers to detour using Bourland Road. Weather permitting, line replacements should wrap up by the end of May.
Following those line replacements, road closures will vary as crews restore the construction zone. Line testing, followed by pavement repair, is expected to be completed in June.
