Weekend races to close roads near Keller Town Center
Post Date:06/03/2026The Wounded Warriors Military Miles races scheduled for Sunday morning, June 7, will impact traffic on roads and trails around Keller Town Center and through Hidden Lakes.
The Half Marathon will start at 6:45 a.m. and use Bear Creek Parkway within Town Center, Keller Smithfield Road, Bear Creek Parkway through Hidden Lakes as far east as Eagle Trail, and the trail system behind Keller Town Hall extending all the way to Bear Creek Park. The 10K will start at 7 a.m. and use the same route as the half marathon, though runners will not travel west of Rufe Snow Drive on the trail system.
The 5K will start at 7:15 a.m. and use Bear Creek Parkway within Town Center, Keller Smithfield Road, Wales Drive, Runnymede Road, Windemere Way, Williamsburg Lane and Rufe Snow Drive.
Drivers are encouraged to anticipate delays and detours! Lane and road closure timing will adjust based on each race, with roads expected to reopen between 8 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. The most significant, along Rufe Snow Drive and Keller Smithfield Road, will include closures at Celeste Lane and Brentwood Trail, respectively, for northbound drivers. Southbound drivers will be stopped at Bear Creek Parkway — at the Town Center intersection on Keller Smithfield and the Keller Pointe intersection on Rufe Snow.
Once competitors enter the Hidden Lakes portion of the course, drivers will also not be allowed to cross over the medians of Bear Creek Parkway until the race is finished. That means drivers in Hidden Lakes approaching Bear Creek Parkway from the south will only have the option to turn eastbound, and those coming from the north, westbound.
A mix of police officers, KPD volunteers, and Dallas Athletes Racing's team will be helping direct traffic. As always, please follow their directions and leave barricades in place to help ensure everyone's safety.
