Following Tarrant County’s issuance of an outdoor burning ban and in response to continued dry conditions and elevated fire danger across the region, the Keller Fire Marshal’s Office has temporarily prohibited recreational fires and other outdoor burning activities within the City of Keller. The date of the order is effective 08/13/2026. 

The restrictions are effective immediately and will remain in place until conditions improve.

Current atmospheric conditions, dry vegetation and elevated fire danger increase the potential for outdoor fires to ignite and spread. Tarrant County’s burn ban, along with current local and regional conditions, prompted the Fire Marshal’s determination that recreational fires and similar outdoor burning activities present an increased fire hazard.

During the temporary restrictions, the following are prohibited:

• Recreational and ceremonial fires;
• Wood-burning fire pits, fire rings and similar outdoor fires; and
• Other outdoor burning that may produce open flames, sparks or embers.

The burning of leaves, brush, tree trimmings, yard debris and similar materials is already prohibited within the City of Keller and remains prohibited regardless of the temporary restrictions.

Outdoor cooking is not prohibited. Residents may continue to use approved grills, smokers and other appliances designed for cooking when operated safely and in accordance with applicable fire regulations and manufacturer instructions. Cooking equipment should be continuously attended and kept away from dry vegetation and other combustible materials.

Residents and contractors are also urged to use additional caution when conducting welding, cutting, grinding, mowing or other activities capable of producing heat or sparks, and implement proper fire watch procedures for these hazardous activities.

The Keller Fire Marshal’s Office will continue to monitor local and regional fire conditions and coordinate with Tarrant County and regional public safety partners. The temporary restrictions will be rescinded when conditions have improved sufficiently to allow recreational fires to resume safely.
