Home MenuFlock Safety Cameras
The Keller Police Department has launched a new tool aimed at keeping residents safer than ever.
The Flock Safety Camera System uses fixed, pole-mounted license plate-reading cameras to capture images of vehicles as they enter and leave Keller, registering their make, model, color, and license plate number. That information is then compared against public safety databases logging stolen vehicles, active arrest warrants, and various alerts like the AMBER system for abducted children.
If the Flock system identifies a vehicle listed in one of those databases, it will immediately alert Keller Police so that officers can respond appropriately. The system can also be used to assist officers during investigations in which witnesses are able to provide information about a vehicle of interest.
Please note that the system does not capture drivers’ or passengers’ faces, and data is not used for traffic enforcement. Information and images are automatically deleted after 30 days.

Our Automated License Plate Recognition & Artificial Intelligence Policy defines a minimum set of binding guidelines to govern the collection and use of this data in a manner consistent with respect for individuals' privacy and civil liberties.
Transparency
Our Flock System transparency portal offers details about Keller PD policies as well as our activity over the past 30 days, including the number of license plate images captured, stolen vehicles identified, and system searches by our officers.
