The Unified Development Code (UDC) is the primary tool used to ensure compliance with Keller’s long-term plans, best professional practices and safe development procedures. Long-term plans include the Comprehensive Plan, Future Land Use Plan, Master Thoroughfare Plan, Parks and Trails Master Plan, Economic Development Strategic Business Plan, and Water, Sewer and Drainage master plans.

The UDC is intended to provide parameters and methods for physical development of the community in accordance with established visions and currently applicable “Best Practices” for design and construction. As such, it serves as a basis for evaluating development proposals and changes that affect the built environment.

Public Comment Opportunities
Citizens are also welcome to offer their comments on the UDC update as these public hearings, all of which will take place at Keller Town Hall, 1100 Bear Creek Pkwy.
April 15, 2015 1st Public Hearing with the Planning and Zoning Commission, 6:30 p.m.
April 27, 2015 2nd Public Hearing with the Planning and Zoning Commission, 7 p.m.
May 5, 2015 1st Public Hearing with the City Council, 7 p.m.
May 19, 2015 2nd Public Hearing with the City Council, 7 p.m.

Citizens may also speak at any other regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission or City Council by speaking during the Persons to be Heard portion, or may email members of the City Council (mayorandcouncil@cityofkeller.com).

The City Council continued to establish priorities and set direction for the UDC update during a special work session.
Jan. 6, 2015
City Council received an update on the Unified Development Code (UDC) process and began establishing priorities and setting direction. The Council also approved text amendments to the Tree Preservation portion of the UDC, which had been prioritized earlier in the process.

The City Council approved a contract with SGR to hire a consultant to update the city's Unified Development Code (UDC).

Keller’s previous UDC was initially adopted on Aug. 11, 2002, by Ordinance No. 1111, and the most recent update had been Dec. 4, 2008 (Ordinance No. 1435). There had been many city-initiated amendments to the UDC since then.
