City and state officials and area veterans celebrated and unveiled a new sculpture at the Keller Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, November 8, 2008. The ceremony officially dedicated the sculpture, "Protector of Freedom" by local sculptor Darrell Davis, and also recognized the names of Keller veterans added to the pillars at the memorial park.
In addition to the City Council, State Representative Vicki Truitt, Keller Rotary President Allen Hofeling and Keller Public Arts Board Chairwoman Brenda Wyatt were in attendance. The keynote address was given by Brig. Gen. Steve Arthur, who lives in Keller. The National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance were led by students from Keller Middle School.
